BEST PALEO/KETO STREET TACO TO EAT WHEN VISITING ENCINITAS, CALIFORNIA

When traveling, it’s not the easiest to find foods you can eat when you are on a special diet. It’s hard to really immerse yourself in the culture, where food is concerned when you are on a limited diet.

Growing up on Mexican food, it was a staple for us. Either it was a late-night run for Carne Asada Burrito or after being on the beach all day, you hit up your favorite local spot. But let’s be honest… it’s not always the healthiest food.

Traveling and Still Staying On Your Diet

Many people these days are either on diets like Keto or Paleo, or like me, the autoimmune protocol diet. These diets can be very limiting and unfortunately, you have to give up many of your favorite food in the name of health.

But I found a little spot where you can go to still get your favorite street tacos and still be good.

Organic Specialty Street Tacos

If organic is your cup of tea, Haggo’s Organic Taco Shop has the best fresh organic food around, specifically Burritos and Tacos. But, what I love about this place isn’t necessarily the organic food… which don’t get me wrong that’s a bonus, but it’s the alternatives it offers.

Haggo's Organic Taco Shop

Haggo’s has options like vegan cheese and sauces made with cashew nuts! Perfect for those who can’t have dairy or choose not to.

Because of my autoimmune disease, I can’t have wheat or corn tortillas. And it always bites having to eat everything inside a taco and not the shell, it’s just not the same experience. Which I why I love the fact that Haggo’s offers almond flour tortillas. This is amazing, cause how many places have alternative tortillas? This makes it nice for those on paleo/keto or AIP diet.

Ron Burgundy

So you are probably thinking… what does Ron Burgundy and Haggo’s have to do with each other? Next time you are in Encinitas and want some tacos, go to Haggo’s and ask for the Ron Burgundy Street Tacos. Caramelized onions, grass-fed beef, cabbage, and cilantro on almond flour tortillas with cashew crema. You will be thanking me that you asked for the Ron Burgundy Street Tacos.

Grab these tacos and head over to Beacon’s beach. Put your feet in the sand and watch the local surfers… and enjoy the life of a San Diegan.
