THE YOGA BOARD

Going into quarantine was definitely a difficult transition for all of us. Many have to make sacrifices and changes in our daily lives. One of the things for me was taking a yoga studio practice and moving into a home practice. This wasn’t easy.

Like me, I’m sure most of you don’t have tons of room in your house to set up your own cute little yoga studio. Even though we yogis would love it if we could!

Carpet Or Not To Carpet

When I began doing a regular practice at home, I found some really good teachers on YouTube. This was nice because I could do yoga whenever I wanted to. But the problem wasn’t finding the time (since we all seemed to have a lot of that) it was the CARPET!

This was frustrating because if you’ve done yoga on the carpet you know how difficult this can be.

You Are Now Standing On The Solution

I tried to google anything that could help my situation and I found the easiest solution. I needed to rip up all of my carpet and put hardwood floors in! Actually… that wasn’t an option. But going down to my local Home Depot and having them cut me a 6.5×2.5ft heavy grade plywood was an option.

I know this sounds so simple to do… but it just never crossed my mind to do so.

If this is something you are dealing with, when it comes to a home practice, then go down to a Home Depot or your local hardware store. You buy the wood and they will cut it for you then and there. Measure your mat and have them cut it just a little bit bigger for you. Easy peasy.

I would recommend sanding the corners so you don’t get any splinters. Lay it down on your carpet and put your mat on top of it. And voila… you now have a great board to practice on.

You will feel like you are practicing on a studio’s wood flooring. This has changed my home yoga practice instantly. And, I’m not the only one that loves my new yoga setup (haha). Gretchen loves my yoga mat so much that I have to fight her for it… as you can clearly see!

If this is something you have been struggling with… I’m telling you it’s worth the weight in wood to your yoga practice!
