SNAILED IT! SKINCARE WITH A SIDE OF SNAILS PLEASE

I’m not sure if you have heard of snails as a beauty treatment but is gaining a lot of popularity in the U.S. lately. Here’s the thing… Snail Secretion on the skin isn’t a new crazy idea. This skin treatment has been around for a very, very long time. It even goes back to the Ancient Greeks times, as they used snails for skin treatments and wound healing. Pretty crazy, huh?

The good news is… you don’t have to let snails crawl all over your body to get the benefits from them. Thank goodness! Because, if you are anything like me, that makes my skin crawl all on its own.

What Is Snail Secretion?

Sad to say… but I had to look up what snail secretion actually was the first time I heard it. I assumed I knew what it was, but wasn’t quite sure.

So, both slugs and snails secrete what they call, visco-elastic slime or mucus. This acts as an adhesive and a lubricant that enables these creatures to adhere to, and glide over all types of surfaces and prevent them from drying out.

The nice thing is that this isn’t going to be crushed up snails you’ll be putting on your skin, it’s just the slime that comes out of them. Also, they just collect the slim… they don’t hurt the snails in any way (just in case you were wondering).

Annnnd… there are a lot of studies out there showing that there really are benefits to snail secretion, from wound healing to even preventing wrinkles.

Snailing Around the World

During ancient Greek times, Hippocrates reportedly did recommend crushed snails and putting them on to the skin to relieve inflammation. Also, Chilean snail farmers found that using snail slime healed skin lesions very quickly and would leave no scarring.

And, in Italy, they collected mucus from slugs and would rub it onto the skin to help with dermatitis, inflammations, calluses, and acne, and to promote wound healing. Talk about Snailing All Over the World, for the perfect skincare.

What Can It Do For You

Snail slime-based products are claiming to be the new miracle face-fixer in the beauty world. They are showing that it treats acne, reduces pigmentation, and scarring, prevents wrinkles, and even gets rid of warts. That’s a lot of benefits.

Now that we are familiar with how people around the world have used snail and slug secretion. How are they doing it now, because you know people aren’t crushing up snails from their gardens and putting them on their skin. At least I hope not!

So, I decided I’m going to get my hands on some of this snail slime and see what the big hype is all about.

Intro To Korean Skincare

Korean skincare lines lately are becoming very popular here in the U.S. Their products are made with highly sophisticated technology and they have integrated snail secretion in quite a bit of them. Which is a great place to start if you want to add snail secretion into your beauty regimen.

Korean Beauty Snail Cream

I tend to have very dry and sensitive skin and need all the moisture I can get! So I decided to add Mizon Snail Cushion Foam Bubble Cleanser and COSRX Advanced Snail 92 All in one Cream (which is probably the most popular snail secretion cream out there) into my lineup. Plus, I love to use these little Compressed Facial Sponges with my new face wash… they are great cause they aren’t a rough exfoliant, but super soft.

Did you know you aren’t washing your face correctly… here’s how to wash your face for the best results:
The Double Cleanse

I have been using these products for the last month and have noticed a huge difference in my skin already. Plus, I’ve given some to my niece, mom, and sister… all ranging in different age groups and they have nothing but amazing things to say about these products as well!

My face feels softer, less irritated, and inflamed and even my fine lines seem to be a little less noticeable. So far I’m sold, but still want to see the long-term effects of wrinkles and those more defined lines that start popping up at this age. Only time will tell but so far… Snailing It!
