MY DECISION TO GET BREAST IMPLANTS
To understand my choice to get implants and the journey that has led me up to this point in my life, you have to understand the back story.
I started wearing a bra in the 4th grade, so not having large breasts was never my issue. By the time I was 12 years old, we moved from the country to the suburbs and I began putting on weight…(easier access to junk food). For the next decade, I would struggle with my weight… and as every teenage girl would eat, would NOT eat.. you name it. I’m sure we have all been there.
The Weight Gain…
By the time I was in high school I was about a size 12 and wore DD bras. Then, when I moved out on my own, I began to put on A LOT of weight. I had my own money, my own lifestyle and I was EEAATTING. I’ve always had a slower metabolism and I definitely never got on a scale… NO WAY was I ever going to either! That day changed when I had to go up in pant size and couldn’t fit into 16s anymore. I refused to buy 18s and instead I went and bought a scale. Ugh, I was 200 lbs and knew I had to make some changes.

The Weight Loss…
The changes were easy actually, I just started reading food labels. Easy Peazy… I realized then you couldn’t eat a whole pint of Ben and Jerry’s. To my amazement, I found out that there are 3 servings in one pint. UGH, I was eating for 3 people!! No wonder I was gaining, even though I was working out every day really hard.
I had no dietary restrictions. I just cut back and watched what I ate and the weight fell off (don’t worry.. There is a reason I’m telling you this).
I was now in my mid-twenties, about a size 6, and still had… 32DDs.
Here I am with my Amazonian girlfriends in Vegas (that’s me in black with 5-inch wedges on… haha). Clearly, you can see, I didn’t need breast implants, but I wanted to look the same when I was out of a bra as I did in one. I know… Vanity.
I had a little extra skin and was not as full on top of the breast anymore from the weight loss. I still wore the same bra size, just less stuff inside and more skin.
BOOKING THE APPOINTMENT…
In my first consultation, the doc asked me what I was looking for… my words exactly were, “Fill ’em Back Up”. I ended up going with a bilateral subpectoral augmentation mammoplasty and a bilateral present mastopexy.
That’s a fancy way of saying I got a boob job with a lift where they took out a little bit of excess skin.
AND boy did I love them!! Even to this day, I have plastic surgeons telling me they are perfect. But are they???
I thought they were until I realized they have been slowly killing me for the last 9 years. And I’m not the only one out there…
Heard of breast implant illness but don’t know what it is… here’s a good understanding of:
